THE BISHOP OF WAIAPU.
RECEPTION AT NAPIER
(Special to “Times.”) NAPIER, Jan. IS. ' Brilliant weather favored the reception to the Bishojp of Waiapu and Mrs. Averill in the Cathedral precincts this afternoon, and there was an extremely large attendance. Among those_ present were the Primate and Mrs. Nevill, Bishop Williams, visiting clergymen and ministers of other denominations. The town and suburban parishes were strongly represented, and there were many church people from the country. Altogether the gathering was one of the pleasantest kind possible. The episcopal ring which the Primate placed on the new Bishop’s finger on Sunday, was the gift of the clergy of his old archdeaconry in Canterbury. The pectoral cross, of massive gold, set with rubies, was sent as a gift from Ely Theological College, where Bishop Averill received some of his draining.
