The vessel left Auckland last Friday, and had a good run down the coast. The U.S.'S. Co.’s Flora was at Port Awanui yesterday, but owing to the wet weather loading operations were delayed, and she will not arrive here • till to-morrow morning, bringing about 2000 bales of wool for transhipment to the Star of Canada. “Phe U.S.S. .Co.’s produce steamer "Wan aka was leaving Oamaru last night on her usual run to Auckland. : ■' »- The T7.S.S; Co.’s Squall goes into dock at Auckland for her annual overhaul. The Bluff correspondent of the “Ocago Daily Times" writes: —Preparations on an elaborate scale are being' made for the ensuing oyster seasou. The company’s steamer Loyalty is undergoing a most extensive overhaul. The Vulcan Foundry Company, Invercargill, has completed a new up-to-date boiler service, and llad it deposited safe on board at -the JBluff. On that alone something like £750 expenditure is being incurred. On the s.s. Rita .and their -oyster craft- Messrs. Id win and Rodrique have spent _ not less than £SOO on overhaul, and it is satisfactory to add that all , parties arc satisfied that the expenditure has been well -incurred. In deference to a strongly expressed opinion that the oyster deposit beds should be removed away from o-o-ssible contamination at the wharf, these beds have been reerected some distance up tlie harbor. With anything like moderate weather they will" be complete and ready for occupation in good time for the opening of the season. The contract price, together with extras, will, it is thought, amount to no less than £ISOO. lIY TELEGRAPH. CARE MARIA, Jail. 19.
