FLOODS IN AUSTRALIA.
TREMENDOUS LOSS 'OF SHEEP. Uniticd J’kicbb Association — CorYuiant. SYDNEY, Jan. 23. The- Joss of sheep in Narrabri districtowing to the flood, is estimated at 100,000. SYDNEY, Jan. 24. AYalgett presents the appearance of a fortified town. The streets have been ploughed up to furnish material for embankments. The water is now racing all round the town on the flats. It is rising rapidly. A formidable volume of , water is within a day’s journey of the town. Despite the precautions, there must be a heavy loss. Stock has been removed to what little highland there is about the place. AValgett is being assailed by two flooded rivers, the Barwon and the Namoi. In past experiences only one river lias been flooded at a time. The farmers’ houses round AY cowan have a depth of oft or 6ft of water in them. Not a single roof has been left on many farms.
