There was a large attendance, and £13,365 was put through the machine during the meeting, compared with £11,836 last year, an increase of £1535. £l6O was paid in fens by bookmakers. The following were the results of the racing:— Hack Hurdles, 15 miles. —Windage 10.13 1, Himitangi 9.0 2, Canadian 9.0 3. Also started: Silken Rein, Golden Glow, Don Carlos, and Awahaki. Won by a length, Canadian a poor third. Golden Glow’ fell. Time, 3m.in 21 1-5 sec. Telephone Elack Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Strathmoira 8.3 (carried 8.5) 1, Lady Doris 8.3 (carried 8.5) 2, Ascalon 6.7 3. Also started: Gladiola, Moree, Fond Memory, Blend, and Bravery. A protest was entered against the winner owing to Morris, his rider, training another horse in the ra-ep. The protest was upheld, and the race awarded to Marathon, with Waimoko second and Envoy third. WELLINGTON RACES. WELLINGTON, Jan. 24. Favorable weather was experienced for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting. The attendance was good. A sum of £14,217 was passed’ through the totalisator, against £23,468 for the second day last year. Thirteen bookmakers were licensed inside and twenty-two outside.
