ANOTHER POLITICAL MURDER* BRITISH RESIDENTS'AT THE END OF THEIR PATIENCE. IJnitkd Piikss Association— Copykight. (Received January 25, 10.25 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Jan. 25. Shamvulalam, a Mahomcdair, Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department, who was largely responsible for discovering the Midnapur conspiracy, was shot dead at the High Court, Calcutta, while leaving the Court, where the- Alipur case is being tried. A Bengal youth, aged 18, fired at a distance of two inches from Shamvulalam’s body.. He fledi into the street and threw a bomb at a mounted policeman, but it failed to explode; and' he was arrested.. Two previous attempts were made to murder Shamvulalam. The outrage caused' the utmost sensation. The European community declare that the limit of patience has been reached, and demand new laws of the utmost severity.
