GREAT INUNDATIONS AT PARIS. United Puesb Association— Copyuiciit. (Received. January 26, 12.45 a.m.) PARIS, Jan. 25. The heavy rainfall at Paris persists. The Seine has risen 25 feet near the Louvre.. The Pont d’ Aim a is threatened. The Pont do G-r.oneUe and the Pont do Passy are closed, to the public. The- Seine is abovte the roadway, and is percolating through the embankment in many places. Immense quantities of building, material and cement which were discharging on the quays have been swept away. Tlie electric light in the Chamber of. Deputies is useless, the machinery in the basement being under water. All electric trams are stopped. Two thousand refugees, driven from their homes; have arrived at Paris. All the- rivers in France except the ■Garonne and Dordogne are flooded.
NEARLY HALF FRANCE UNDER WATER, LONDON, Jan. 25. . ; The “Times” 'Paris correspondent j says that it is scarcely an exaggeration I to say tliat: nearly half France is under water.
