The Amalgamated Carpenters and Joiners’ Union are appealing to the Conciliation Council to reduce the hours of labor per diem so as to give employment to more tradesmen than at present, and so minimise unemployment; also to ask for the granting of time off during working hours to allow apprentices to attend technical schools or approved classes.
