INTER-CLUB MATCH

The second match between the Gisborne and Tunanganui Bowling Clubs, for the pennant presented by Mr. J. W. Witty, played on the Turanganui green yesterday .afternoon, resulted in a win for the Gisborne Club by 13 points. Each club has now won one game in the rubber, and consequently a third game must be played to decide the possession of . the trophy. The outstanding features of the game were the overwhelming victory of Ponsford’s team for Gisborne, and the very decided win of Martin for Turanganui. Good nlay, however, was shown on all hands,' and Williams’ Turanganui rink deserved credit for the rally they made in the later stages of their game. Though they did not score a win, they ;put on a. dozen points against a couple, two singles, made by their opponents. After the conclusion of play, Mr. W. Pettie (president of the Gisborne Club) proposed the health of the Turanganui Club, which was drunk by the visitors with due honors. Mr. W. Bruce (president of the Turanganui Club) fittingly acknowledged the compliment, and proposed the health of the Gisborne Club, which was duly honored. A large number of visitors, including many ladies and a strong contingent of Gisborne Club members, were present during the afternoon, and were very hospitably entertained. An excellent afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames E. Lewis and W. McPherson.

TURANGANUI CLUB. After the conclusion of the interclub match yesterday afternoon, a match in the Bennett Cup competition was played, the result being: B. Hird 20 beat R. 0. Sheet 11.— Hird led throughout, and had decidedly the best of the game. This afternoon the final to decide the holders of the Pennant Fours (challenge) -will be played, when Colley’s and Martin’s rinks meet. To-morrow entries close for the President’s Fours. Already seven rinks are entered. GISBORNE CLUB. Notwithstanding the fact that many members of the Gisborne Bowling Club visited the Turanganui green yesterday afternoon, a considerable number remained to (play on their own green. The following match games were played: — —Handicap Pairs.— Zachariah and Kyme (9) 27, beat Paltridge and W. R. Clarkson (8) 22. —dolts’ Singles.— Grieve 33 heat Primrose 11. Leslie 19 beat Pasley 13. Primrose 18 heat Hoff 15. Grieve 23 beat Maher 21. In this competition each player has to meet every other competitor.
