GISBORNE CLUB. There Avas a match in the Colts’ Singles'of the Gisborne BoAvling Club yesterday afternoon, when Grieve beat Eewis by the narrow margin of a single point, scoring 19 to his opponent’s 18. TURANGANUI CLUB. At the Turanganui BoAvling Club’s green yesterday afternoon the final of the Pennant Fours Avas played, AV'lien Colley’s and Martin’s rinks met. The results were: - G. Edwards, R. Thelwall, P. E. Hallam, and J. J. Martin (skip) 22, 'beat H. Martin, W. H. Douglas, J. D. Jeune, and J. Colley (skip) IS. —AV. Bruce aeted as substitute for H. Martin. The game from the commencement Avas an uphill one for Colley’s team. On the first three heads Martin secured three singles, and on the 6th head led by 5 to 3. On the 9th head Martin’s team had increased their lead to six points-*-ll to 5, but on the 12th head were only three up, Colley’s score being 11 to Martin’s 14. On the next six heads Martin’s rink ran aAvay from their opponents, but the latter made a good recovery, and on the 20th head AA r ere only five do\\ r n. On the last head Martin lay a second shot, which prevented Colley scoring a five necessary to tie. Colley made a splendid effort to take the troublesome boAvl out, but failed, and thus suffered defeat by four points. Martin’s team thus hold the gold pennant fours as presented by the club. Already teams are beings arranged to challenge the holders. Entries for the President’s Fours close on the green this afternoon.
