LAND SALE.

CONGLETON TOWNSHIP

On Saturday morning, in the Theatre, Mr. A. Forde Matthews’ township of Congleton, Whataupoko. was submitted to auction in lot-s ranging from under quarter-acre sections to lots of five acres. Mr. G. R. Wyllie was the auctioneer for Messrs Williams and Kettle. There was a good attendance, but very little business was done. The sales were: Section 1, 36 pr-rclies. corner Dryden. and Shelley Streets, £57, to Mr. H. DeCosta. Section 2. quarter-acre, Shelley Street, £56, to Mr. 1). Vita. Section 3, 3-8 perches, Shelley Street, to Mr. J. Johnston.

Section 4. 31 perches, Shelley Street, £49, to Mr. F. Hall'. Section 5, J acre, Shelley Street, £sl to Mr. Crompton. Section 6, 4 acre, Sheliev Street, £SO, to Mr. F. Hall. Section 7. :V acre. Sbelley Street, £-50. to Mr. -J. Johnston. Section 9, -V acre. Sheliev Street, £SO. to Mr. F. Hall. Sections 21, 22. 23, J acres, Byron Street, £SO, to Mr. W. Branson. Sections 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 17, 4 acres, were passed in at prices ranging from £46 to £53 for a corner section.

Section 39, 2r 16p. corner of Byron and Drvden Streets, was passed in at £l2O.

A number of other lots were also offered, but no bids were given, and the remainder was withdrawn.

GLADSTONE ROAD SECTIONS

Messrs Williams and Ivettle, in conjunction with Mr. AY. Lissaiu Clayton. also offered seventeen sections, at the corner of Gladstone and Stanley Roads, the property of Mr. Humphrey Bavlv.

Section 1, i-acre, corner of Gladstone Road and an unnamed road, was the only sale effected. Bidding opened at 1”0. and rose to £l5O. and was then knocked down to Mr. Tasker.

(Section 2, same area, in Gladstone Road, was passed in at £145. Section 5, -> acre, corner Gladstone and unnamed road, passed in at £155, and several other J acres passed in at. £145. For the major iportion no bids were forthcoming. During the afternoon options on a great many lots were given.
