ANGLICAN SUNDAY SCHOOLS
A SUCCESSFUL PICNIC
The combined ,picnic of the Holy Trinity main and Haiti Sunday Schools was held at Wainui beach on Saturday. The weather was splendid, and a most enjoyable day was spent by the children and their adult friends. .The gathering was a record one in point of numbers, close on 300 being present, and the percentage of adults was also much larger than ou previous occasions. The available vehicular traffic was taxed to its utmost to convey the picnickers to the beach, and special coaches had to be engaged. The morning was devoted to swimming and the playing of games on the beach, and luncheon was partaken of under some pine trees in ail adjoining paddock, the use of which was kindly granted by Mr. John Murphy, of Te Arai. After luncheon sports were indulged in on the beach, the vicar occupying the positions of starter and liandicapper, and other official positions were occupied by the teachers. The prizes were numerous, and included two handsome medals, donated by Messrs J. Broad and H. J. Grieve. After the sports tea was partaken of, and after a brief rest- the party returned to town, well satisfied with the day’s outing. The Sunday School authorities wish to express their sincere thanks to Messrs D. J. Barry and H. Martin for generous gifts of. soft drinks, and to the many other ladies and gentlemen who, bv their donations of cash and kind, helped to make the picnic the .success it was.
