A BUTTER-BOX FACTORY BURNED

Alfred Bros-.'belt’s butter-box factorv at Rongotea was destroyed by fire this morning by the explosion of a lamp in the engine-room. There was practically no insurance. Aluch inconvenience will be caused to several butter factories owing to the supply of boxes being cut off.

At the Police Court this morning Margaret McAuliffe. against _ whom there were several previous convictions, pleaded guilty of having liquor for sale in Invercargill, a no-lice:ase district. She was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence wKeu called upon, the Magistrate stating that she must not keep a boarding house in_ Invercargill for at least two years. Nora Thompson, for assisting the previous accused in the commission of the offence, was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Roderick B:s----sett, brewer’s carter, was also charged with assisting McAuliffe by delivering beer to fictitious persons, supposed to be lodgers in the bouse. Ho was fined £ls. E. Joseph Lineon and Con. Lindsay, found on the premises, were each fined £2.
