MISHAP TO AUCKLAND HARBOR WORKS.
AX EXTENSIVE AND EXPENSIVE
COLLAPSE
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 10
About 1.30 this morning 350 feet of the northern face of the reclamation area at Freeman’s Bay, which is part of the wharf extension scheme, collapsed. The face was composed of ferrc-concrete piles and concrete slabs. The Harbor Board had been pumping spoil from the dredge into the reclamation area, and evidently the pressure from the spoil and water against the face was too heavy. At low water it gave way. The damage is estimated at not less than £25,000.
