ALLEGED FRAUD.
A GISBORNE CASE

In the Police Court Madeline Hofen was charged that she. did aid and abet her husband, Patrick Hofen, in removing goods and chattels over which security of £4O had been given, with intent to defraud.* She..was remanded to appear at Gisborne ,on Tuesday. * INVERCARGILL, Feb. 15. Patrick Hofen was; charged at the Court to-day, -with removing chattels over which he. had given security, and was remanded to Gisborne', where the alleged' offence, was committed.
In connection with the arrest of the Hofens, the police were, visited by a deputation on Friday evening last, with the information that the pair intended leaving for Melbourne. The southern and northern police were notified, with the result that the Hofens have been arrested, and the woman remanded to the 17th inst. and the man to the 4th, at Gisborne. Hofen carried on business as a carrier.
