BISHOP AVERILL.
A RESIDENCE PURCHASED AT NAPIER.
[Special to “Times.”! NAPIER. Feb. 15
The Waiapu Diocesan Board of Trustees have purchased the residence of the late Mr. John Close, on Clyde Road, as a residence for Bishop Averill. The price is stated to be over £3OOO. The property is a splendid one, overlooking the town from the hill, and commanding a beautiful view of the ocean and surroundings. The gardens are magnificently laid out, and the grounds attached to the dwelling are pretty in the extreme. There can be no possible question of the'suitableness of the place for the purpose of a residence for the Bishop, and the authorities are to be congratulated on their choice. In the (past there has been no official “Bishop’s Court.” The Right, Rev. Dr. Williams has used his own. residence. There is a reserve on Napier Terrace for the purpose, but apparently the trustees considered it more advisable to purchase a property complete in everv detail in preference to building on their own reserve.
