The State’s mineral product last year was valued at £7,627,500, a decrease of £982,100 compared with the jprevious year, largely due to the labor troubles affecting the output of coal, silver, lead, and copper mines. The decreases in value were: Gold £25,637, silver and lead £507,253, copper £54,051, coal and coke £734,497. Zinc concentrates shewed an increase of £440,397.

Owing to the dearth of female operatives in the clothing trade the manufacturers are considering a scheme for obtaining a thousand English girls. A HOT TIME IN MELBOURNE. Great hush fires are raging in the mallee country in the vicinity of Murray bridge. Several homesteads have been destroyed, and others are in danger. A HOT TIME IN ADELAIDE.
