THE MALWA ARRIVES AT ■. - AUCKLAND.
[PiiR Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Fob: 16. The P. and O. Company’s steamer Mahva arrived at 7 o’clock this morning. At mid-day the Hons. Dr. - Findlay and G. Fowlds and a number of leading citizens attended a luncheon aboard the steamer. Captain Troque, in an intervieiv, spoke most eulogistically of Auskland’s harbor. He said he thought it ono of the safest ports lie had entered. Mr.' Trelawnev. the company’;? superintendent in Australia, bore out these remarks, and said he hoped the best results would follow the extension of the service. The company’s object was not to compete for the intercolonial trade, but to catch through passengers from New Zealand to England and England to Now Zealand.
