Renter’s BeiTin correspondent states that one Lackensteen, impersonated Frederick * Vanderbilt, endorsed ibills totalling £374,000 sterling, which Prince Miguel of Braganza, was induced to give for gold, emeralds, and other mining shares now alleged to be worthless. The Vanderbilts repudiated. the endorsement, on the ground that it was forged. Two thousand pounds’ worth of bills have been siezed.

BERLIN, Feb. 17. It is understood that Lackensteen is in Paris.
