BURNS AND LANG AIATCIIED
According to the “Sydney Referee,” Mr. MHntosh has induced Tommy Burns to sign articles for a meeting with Bill Lang on the evening of March 28—Easter Monday. Burns despaired of getting- another match with Jack Johnson—at least, just yet awhile —and, listening to the pleading of friends and egged on by the published insinuations that'he did not care for the job, the greatest white fighter living affixed his autograph to -a compact which Lang had already signed. It is over early yet to discuss probabilities of the match, but there is no getting away from the fact that wkiTo Burns has been living contentedly on East- Street —sitting back in a very luxurious chair—Bill Lang has kept delving away at the game whenever opportunity offered, and developing and adding to what Jack Johnson taught him during th'eir several weeks’ close association.
Certainly Burns has nearly seven weeks during which to attune- himself for what many people believe will prove as hard a task as ever he was set since the beginning of his career. Seven weeks should be enough for most people, but is the time sufficient for one who has led a life of absolute leisure for so rrianv months? Burns himself thinks it is. and anticipates no trouble in cultivating first-class fix. He started work earlv last week,- and will continue indulging in fairly- long walks and some ball-punching before engaging upon read hard graft about two weeks from now. -
