NAPIER, Feb. 19
The ballot for the Tongoio estate took place to-day there being HO applications for twelve sections. The following were successful:—A. H. Rudd (Martin borough). AY. C. O’Reilly (AYaverley), N. D. Barrett iAA’elJington), C. E. Lowe (Hastings), F. Mahouy (Napier), AYm. Broome (Blenheim). Donald AYardell (Ashburton). Anne Osborne (Carterton), Bruce Ben_ nett (Inglewood), Nathaniel Lane (Hastings), Arthur Ford (AYellington), and August Scarre (Makotuku).
PASSENGERS BY THE S.S. TAINUI.
WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. The s.s. Tainui. which arrived at Wellington from London yesterday afternoon. brought three saloon passengers. 20 second class, and 164 in the third class. The nnmber of assisted immigrants was 39 (6 men,. 21 women, and 12 children). Of these 15 adults and 12 children were nominated by relatives. The adults include ten domestics, one farmer, one dairy farmer, one farm laborer, and six wives.
