THE SUEZ CANAL.
OPINION OF THE “TIMES.”

LONDON, Feb. 19
The “Times” states that a reduction cf the Suez canal dues is desirable. The Peninsular and Oriental Company paid .£342,225 in dues last year, but the first thing in the interests of British shipping is the improvement of the canal, and unless the company obtains a guarantee that the concession will be extended, it may devote all its earnings to the reimbursement of its shareholders.
