BRIBING WITNESSES IN LIBEL

Patrick Hill, an ex-postal employee, has been committed for trial on a charge of subornation of -witnesses in tlie Ronald-Harpor libel case. Some witnesses deposed that Hill, who claimed to be acting on behalf of Harper, offered the-m considerable sums and promised them permanent situations if they -would .give evidence against Ronald. In some instances witnesses deposed they had received similar promises from young Harper. It was alleged that the evidence they gave in the libel action -was manufactured and false. ' Hill told one witness he got £250 from Harper for securing witnesses.
