THE STEAMER MORESBY AGROUND.

The mission steamer has arrived at Cooktown, and reports sighting the Island steamer Moresby, en route from Papua, aground- in Cook’s Passage, high and' dry on a reef. All aboard were safe and standing by the steamer. -A steamer has been despatched from Cooktown to render assistance.
THE CHIEF OFFICER’S STATEMENT.

The chief officer of the Moresby lias arrived at Cooktown. He left the steamer in a. launch, which broke down, landed at Cape Bedford, and came overland. He reports that the Moresby grounded on Friday, and that the forehold is full of water, but the other holds arc dry. The sea is smooth, and there are good prospects of floating the Vessel. The passengers are transferring to another steamer.
