‘‘An iniquity and an abomination-’— thus Mr W. Foster, headmaster of the Petone District High School on school concerts. The. question was introduced by an offer from tile headmaster that he and his staff were prepared to organise an enteratinment-in aid of the funds of the school. But, he told the committee, he did not want them to interpret the offer as implying approval of the principle of such expedients. School concerts did much towards upsetting the school work and the children too. 'l’lie present parlous state of the committee’s funds alone prompted the present offer. .Members discussed the comment at length, and it was noted that the reduced capitation this year would leave the committee with hut C’ffO i t addition to the caret a leer’s wage'. At its conclusion the meeting •'greed some means of supplementing the sc’u.o: income were necessary. Confidence is the greatest advertiser in the world.
