A French corporal has been sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment for attempting to poison Hussars.

The Prussian police are carrying cameras snapshotting (Socialist processions. The photographs will constitute evidence against disturbers. KAISER AS THEATRICAL CRITIC. CONSTANTINOPLE, Feb. 25. Skevbet Pasha did not hand over the ex-Sultan’s fortune, as previously cabled, but reported that Abdul Hamid had himself done so. REVENUE OF INDIA. CALCUTTA, Feb. 25. The Indian Budget shows the revenue to be £75,264,600, and expenditure £75,015,800. It is expected that there wall be a decrease in the opium revenue of £871,800. CANON THOMSON RESIGNS. Canon Thomson, of Norwich, has resigned on account of his health. GANAD lAN IMM IGRATION. OTTAWA, Feb. 25. Mr Duff, Minister of Agriculture for the Province of Ontario, announces that the Government offers a bonus of five dollars for each domestic servant brought to Ontario by Salvationists or any other trustworthy agency. The Government is considering the payanent of the whole or part of the passage money. It has also arranged to advance 20 dollars towards the passage of approved farm laborers, the money to be repaid through the immigrants’ wages. Steps are being taken to secure domestics and farm laborers from Germany and Sweden.

President Taft, speaking at New York, favored the building of two battleships of 25,000 tons annually until the completion of the Panama canal in 1915.

Mrs. Morrison, sister-in-law of the late Charles Morrison, a London financier, has bequeathed £25,000 to tlhei Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; £'sooo to a Church Association; £.3000 to Kensit’s Protestant Truth Society; and £SOOO each to the Anti-Vivisection Society and Hospital.

Mathieson, who ./will conduct- a- research in connection with respiration. Eacli appointment £250 a year for three years. Applications for the second election must he received by the trustees before November loth next.
MINING TROUBLES IN 'SOUTH
WALES.
The- situation in the South Wales coal dispute is increasing in gravity. The South Wales Miners’ Executive consulted the Miners’ Federation, which agrees to a demand raising the minimum wage. The Federation agreed to call a national conference to decide the form of -the Federation’s support- if the Welsh, owners’ refusal continues."* BRITISH NEW GUINEA.

STRIKE AT BETHLEHEM STEEL
WORKS
NEW YORK, Feb. 26
By a strike at Bethlehem steel works, Pennsylvania, 9000 men are affected. The works have been dosecl until the police are able to protect the loyal workers.
