ENTERTAINMENTS.

PA'JTiE PICTURES. The Palm Pictures “Fly Pest” programme -was last night brought to a most successful close, there being a very large and enthusiastic audience present. To-night- there is to be given a complete change of programme, when many fine films will be screened. A novel subject depicts the “Lux Weekly Bleriot Week” in a most interesting manner, rivalling the film shown some time ago of the aviation week at Rheinis. The dramatic element is very prominent in this new series, four exceptionally thrilling pictures being “The -Love of the Pasha’s Son,” “The Little .Seller of Violets,” “The Child’s Faith,” and “The Cricket on the Pleartli.” An instructive series that should interest local bee-farmers principally is entitled “The Man and his Bees,” being the latest - picture produced of this interesting industry. Some really good comedies will be shown, including “An Old Bachelor’s Find,” “Theodore’s Beard,” and “Little Tic the Tec,” a genuine film of real up-to-date merriment. Other subjects of interest include “Scenes in Cannes,” “Industries and Sports in Burmah,” “Hunting the Brown Bear,” and another superb naval film showing the full strength of the .British navy. Owing to the production of the comedy “Dandy Dick” in the theatre to-morrow evening, there will be no performance of the Patlie Pictures.

“DANDY DICK.” Judging by the number of seats already booked, there would appear to be little doubt that the second production of Sir Arthur Pinero’s clever comedy

“Dandy Dick” in His Majesty’s Theatre to-morrow night will be well patronised. The City Band has a legitimate claim to public support, and it- is hoped that the laudable efforts of the able company o-f local amateurs on its behalf will -meet with success. The second production of the delightful comedy promises To 'be oven better than the first-, and' patrons are assured of an evening's pleasure and amusement.

SHAOKLETON’S PICTURES. Messrs Spencer and Mclntyre will inaugurate -a season of three nights at His Majesty’s Theatre, commencing on Wednesday, March 9tig when they will introduce a vivid pictorial record, Lieutenant Sir Ernest Shackloton’s dash for the South Pole. These pictures are exactly the same as were shewn by special command before their Majesties King Edward VII. and Queen Alexandra, at Balmoral. They depict Shackle-ton and liis band of heroes and their work at the • Magnetic Pole, some of the most interesting incidents being on the wonderful sleigh journey in which Lieut. Shacldeton planted the flag given him by Queen Alexandra at the. furthest point yet reached, 97 miles from the Pole. The box plan for the complete season opens on Saturday morning next at 10 o’clock, at Miller’s corner.
