A FIRE TRAGEDY.
DEAIENTED AVOAIAN CUTS THROAT AND PLUNGES IN FLAAIES.
United Press Association— Copyright MELBOURNE, March 4. The residence of Constable Day Isas been destroyed by fire. Mrs. Day and infant perished. Two other children were badly burned. In connection with the burning fatality it was discovered that Mrs Day’s throat had been cut. Circumstances indicate that the woman, who was in poor health, suddenly became demented, set fire to the. house, cut her throat, then dashed into the flames. The fire lit each of four rooms. A neighbor rescued two little boys, who were found screaming near the bed, which was on fire. The door was barricaded. He subsequently returned and endeavored to rescue the baby, but Hdie flames beat him back.
