EAST COAST RABBIT BOARD
THE COMING ELECTION
At the Farmers’ Union meeting on Saturday afternoon the Chairman, Mr W. D. Lysnar, made reference to the coming election in connection with the East Coast Rabbit Board. He mentioned the advisableness of curtailing, as far as possible, the expenditure, and stated that it had been decided that TYairoa and Onotiki should each have a representative. Mr E. M. Hutchinson had been chosen for Opotiki and for the three Gisborne members several names had been mentioned. He, with Messrs T. Holden and J. C. Field had expressed willingness to act in the matter.
Some discussion followed and the name of Mr TV . G.. Sherratt was suggested in addition to these already mentioned.
It was pointed out. that the cost of an election would probably amount to £IOO, and a resolution that the candidates be, there and then, selected by ballot, was put to the meeting and lost. Eventually, on the motion of Air H. deLautour, seconded by Tie A. J. Cameron, it was decided that the chairman of the Farmers’ Union confer with the Chairman of the Sheepowner.s’ Association, with a view to the selection of three representatives, and thus obviate the expense of an election.
