[The Right Rev. Edward King was appointed Bishop of Lincoln in 1885. He was 71 years of age. Prior to 1885 he was Canon of Christ Church and Regius Professor of Past-oral Theology at Oxford.] _ I EARL CARNWORTH. (Received March 9, 11.15 p.m.) LONDON, March 9. Earl Carnworth fell dead in Victoria Street. while going to the Houso of Lords. He was taken to Westminster Hospital, where papers in his pocivtt revealed his identity. HUGH COLIN SMITH. Obituary: Hugh Volin Smith, a ■director of tlie Bank of England. WELL-KNOWN AUCKLAND SPORTSMAN. [Per Press Association.] WANGANUI, March 9. Mr. J. B. Williamson, a well-known sportsman of Auckland, died in a private hospital this -morning, from blood poisoning, supposed to be due to the after effect of a fall. Deceased brought a number of horses to and attended the races last week.
