“RACCING” IN WANGANUI.

A SERIOUS CASE. TPek Prf.ss Association. 1 WANGANUI, March 9. A serious case of “ragging” is reported to have occurred at the railway engine sheds at 3.80 on Tuesday morning. An engine cleaner named Annabell, a lad of about 20 years, either wont to sleep at his work, or during a spoil, and was covered with “waste,” soaked in kerosene, which was afterwards set alight. The joke assumed serious consequences, Annabell being badly burned about the face, hands, and upper portions of the body. He was brought to tlie Wanganui hospital. Where his wounds have been attended to. It is understood an inquiry was held by Departmental officers at Taihape.
