CIVIL LIST. Judgment by default was given for plaintiff in the following undefended cases:—Alfred Henry Gillman (Mr. Blair for Mr. Hei) v. Huru Waraluhi, £1 16s 5d costs £1 3s; Johnston and Mioer (Mr Burnaru) v Thomas Charles Lloyd Cox, for costs on summons (the debt having been paid after the -summons was issued), 13s; John Henry Ormond (Mr Burnard) v. Parlce Pittar, £7 7s 6d, costs £1 3s 6d; James Erskine (Mr Burnard) v. Edward Harding O’Meara, £4 8s Id, costs 5s ; Amelia Catherine Neill (Mr T. Alston Coleman) V. Charley William Moore,, £lO 0s Bcl, costs £1 18s 6d. A WAGES DISPUTE. Welter Gentil sued William -Henry Douglas for £2 17si 'for wages in lieu of notice. Mr T. Alston Coleman appeared for plaintiff and Mr Burnard for defendant. Mr Coleman stated that £1 12s. had been paid into Court. Plaintiff, in his evidence, stated that he had been employed by defendant as a waiter at the Strand Cafe at 25s per week. On March Ist defendant ordered lnm off the uremiscs because he liad neglected to wash up a few dishes after 11.30 p.m. the evening before. Witness claimed £2 17s as wages, but defendant refused to pay the amount. For the defence, evidence was given to prove- that defendant was incompetent and neglected customer's, and acted as if he wished to -be dismissed. Upon the application of Mr Burnard an adjournment was granted to enable the evidence of an important witness for the defence to he obtained.
