The Sayonara, though only rated at 11.42 metres, ds classed as a 12-metre beat, while tire Culwu'liai is rated at 13 anetres. The question of time allowance was left to the British yachting authorities to decide, If that body allows time to be claimed, yesterday’s race goes to. the Culwulia. A WIN FOR CULWULLA HI. (Received March 13, 5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March. 13. The second race for the Sayonara Cup resulted in favor of Culwulia 111. The course was triangular, seven miles each way. Sayonara was the quicker off the mark, but Culwulia, lying more to windward, forged ahead. After the race had been a few minutes in progress, the wind, which was light at the start, freshened. Culwulia, beautifully handled, continued to improve her posi_ tion. and rounded the first buoy four, minutes fifteen seconds ahead of Sayonara The Victorian yacht made up, but lost ground on tiro second stretch, passing the second buoy four minutes behind Culwulia. On the run home, with the wind behind, Sayonara showed to better advantage than caiiier in the race, but could not make up the lost ground, Culwulia beating home by about three minutes. The winner’s time was 3 hours 17 minutes.
