LIQUOR AT SCHOOL PICNICS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Although not a prohibitionist I feel very strongly that intoxicating liquor is out of place at a school picnic. As a parent of children present at such a picnic held recently I beg space fc-r a few lines to protest against the introduction of beer on these occasions. It is manifest!y cl’ no me to pretest to the Committee, who were themselves responsible for the arrangements, but it is surely time to protest when one of the elder children' reports that the .party had only just arrived at their destination when the liquor was openly brought out- before the children. There are parents who think it undesirable that their children should he accustomed to see these whose example is so powerful, openly indulging in liquor. If their .thirst is really invincible, let them satisfy it with less ostentation. —I am, etc., “A PARENT.”
