NGATAPA SETTLEMENT.
A HOST OF APPLICATION'S
Applications closed at the Land Office yesterday for the 24 section'', comprising 10,526 acres, in the Ngatapa Settlement, 17 miles' from Gisborne, tlmt has been acquired by the Government for closer settlement. At the Gisborne office 126 applicant" put in 426 applications for sections, nil the sections being applied for. and at the Napier office cue -applicant pui in for 9 sections. There lias lieen a great deal of interest taken in the proposed ballot, and a large number, both of those who applied and those who did not apply, visited the estate. This morning, ati 9 a.m., the examination. of applicants takes place, anti the Board require that each applicant must shew proof of his financial position, either bv production of Ids hank pass hook, or a letter from a banking or mercantile institutn.-n. The ballot for the sections nkes place at 3 p.lll. to-morrow.
