Tlie final of tlie Youth’s Challenge Fours is to take place this evening at 5 o’clock sharp. The contestants are the picked epresentatives (B. McLeod, ; W. Hall, H. Williams, and T. Parker) nn'd a crew consisting of G. rSeeats, P. Stubbs, L. .Pavitt and J. Martin.. Owing to one of the representatives dropping out Parker is rowing as a substitute . until the race is over,, and in the event of the reps, winning, Martin, who is a member of the challenge crew, will fill the vacancy. ©ach crew -are reminded that they must be at the shed sharp at 5 o’clock in order to cause no delay in getting the race over.

LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ SHIELD

A meeting of members, of the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield Committee was held last evening in Mr H. E. Dodds’ office. There were present: Messrs J. Webb and A. Kirk, representing Poverty Bay Club, C. J. Hamilton and D. Cowan, Gisborne Club, E. Swinnerton and R. Jones, Tologa Club, (H. E. Bright and W. Johnston, Wairoa Club, and H. E. Dodd, representing the Licensed Victuallers’ Association. M J. Webb' occupied the chair, and Mr C. J. Hamilton was elected secretary pro tern. All the clubs being in favor, it' was decided to add to this year’s programme a race for youths’ crews. After considerable discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr Bright, seconded by Mr Swinnerton. to commence the races on Thursday, April 7th., and continue them on the Sth, and if necessary th© 9th., but it was thought that they would be concluded on the two afternoons. It was decided to ask Mr M. deCostato officiate in the weighing of the ten stone men for the race,'but the appointment of the other officials was left to a later meeting to he held on April 2nd., at 8 p.m., in Mr Dodd’s office, at which time the entries close. It is expected t© get three crews from Tologa and one fom Wairoa.
