THE CONGO. '

ARCHBISHOP CONDEMNS BRITISH

GOVERNMENT’S POLICY

United Press Association —Copyright

(Received March 22, 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 21

Writing to Mr. Morel, Secretary of the Congo Reform Association, the Archbishop of Canterbury denies that he is satisfied with the present position of the Congo. He states that he is not merely disappointed, but rendered profoundly uneasy by Sir Edward Grey’s speech in the'House. of Commons on the subject. He adds that it is impossible to share the Foregin Office’s gentle optimism and chivalrous consideration for the difficulties of the new sovereign. It does not relieve ns of responsibility.
