ROWING.
POVERTY BAY CLUB.
A general meeting of the Social Committee was held in the Cosmopolitan Club last evening. The Secertary reported that everything was going on satisfactorily in regard to the social, and it is anticipated that there will be a large attendance of the public. A final meeting, of combined committees will be held to-morrow evening. The youths’ challenge race did not take place last evening owing to the state of the weather, but the race will be rowed at 5 o’clock this evening. GISBORNE CLUB. The youths’ crew’selccted' to represent the Gisborne Club in the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield contest, Busby, G. Pollock, L. Bright, and Rutherford, last night rowed a race, in response to. a challenge, with the following crew : G. Dawson, R. Miller, W. Reddell and H. Fraser. The challengers rowed much better than the representative crew, and finishing very well, won easily by about three lengths.
