THE WEATHER

The following is the Rev. I). C. .Bates’ summary and forecast: Showery and' changeable weather has prevailed on the East Coast of the North Island, with strong south-easterly winds: Fair weather and moderate winds have been experienced generally, but a south-eas-terly has prevailed in Taranaki to-day. Present indications are for moderate to strong south-easterly winds northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, northerly winds prevailing elsewhere. The barometer will probably fall slowly in the south, and rise steadily in the north, with changeable weather generally, but fine -predominating.
