C. j : W' Bates’ summary and forecast: Pair ■/y > weather has been experienced in most y parts or the South Island, but a cyclonic disturbance, central at present, a ; f little northwards of Cape Maria, bas extended its influence over the north in gloomy and showery weather. Present indications are for a further fall in the ' barometer, especially in the north, where an easterly gale, heavy rain, and floods in parts may be expected. iSouth-easterly "winds, strong to gale, with rain, are probable elsewhere. The barometer will probably rise fast after 24 hours.
