THE HEYES INQUIRY.

rPr.u Piuses Association.! WELLINGTON, March 29. Sir Joseph Ward, questioned further concerning Mr. Heyes. Land Tax Commissioner, and the Valuer-General, said Mr. Richardson had only completed the examination upon the complaints last week. The Government at the same time, had received a report from Mr. Heyes, but neither his 'statements, nor those taken by Mr. Richardson had been made on oath. Mr Heyes had contradicted most of the allegations made against him. Mir. Heyes would be examined on oath, and all complaints reported upon before the Government would decide. ~ , , , t The Government has decided that the Board of Inquiry under the Civil Service Act to investigate the charges made against Mr Peter Heyes, Commissioner of Taxes, will consist of Dr Fitchett '(Public Trustee), Professor Salmond (Solicitor General), and Mr Waldegrave (Under-Secretary for Justice). ... ,
