The final will be rowed tins evening between Kirk’s crew and Doig’s, when a close race is anticipated. It is the intention of the Poverty Bay Bowing Chib to send crews to'the Napier regatta, which is to take place on March 17th on the West Shore course, Port Ahuriri. If the precedent of former years is to be taken as any criterion the regatta should be a great success, and those attending it are assured of an enjoyable time. "It is probable that crews from Wellington will be participating, as they have done for many years past, and those present wiH have an opportunity of exchanging opinions in regard to .style with the southern oarsmen. So far as is iknown at present, the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s crews are to be selected this weelc The proposed visit of crews representing the Union Bowing Club (Napier) to Gisborne will probably materialise on February 18th. That date has been submitted to the Union Club, and there is no apparent reason why they should fail to concur. While here the crews from Napier will indulge in a* scries of races with crews 'representing the Poverty Bay Rowing Club. It is probable that the events to bo decided will be junior, 10 stone, and youths’ fours. Local oarsmen are looking forward to this visit, and such contests can only serve to stimulate public interest in the

sport. Crews to compete, for the Licensed Victuallers’ Shield will be selected this week.
