ATHLETICS.
-AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. fPfIR PRKSS ASSOCIATION, j WELLINGTON, Jan. 10. The couucil of the Now Zealand Amateur Athletic Association met last evening. A communication -was received from the Australasian Union in regard to Australasian representation at the Empire sports festival. It was pointed out that a team if sent would need to get home at least Jive weeks prior to the commencement of the sports, and it would therefore be necessary for the team to leave by at least March 8. The chairman and Messrs Ghaffey and Pollock were appointed a sub-committee to approach the boxing, tennis, and swiniing bodies in regard to the matter. The Otago centre wrote applying for control of the Australasian championships. It was decided that the Otago centre be informed that its application will revive consideration when the matter of 'Championships comes up for consideration. Certificates in connection with the 1000 yards record -of 2min 20 2-s.sec. put up by V. C. Harding in Auckland on December 3rd, were put in and the .-record was passed.
