AUCTION SALE ON SATURDAY

There was a fair attendance at the sale of suburban lands held in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday morning. Mr.* A. F. Kennedy, local manager for Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., presided over tiie sale, and Mr. G. R. Wyilie was the auctioneer. The first sections to be offered were situated at Patutahi, and comprise part of the estate of the late Mr. G. Campbell. These were submitted under instructions from tiie Public 'Trustee, and were as follows.---

Section 4S, containing 7 acres 1 rood 28 perches, and Lavin'- a four-roomed dwelling-house and orchard situated thereon, was the first to be submitted, ft was started at £3OO, and reached £450 before the fail of the hammer. Mr Doleman was the purchaser. Also starting at £3OO, section 51, S acres 2 roods 4 perches in area, was knocked down to Mr. Atkins at £345. The same start was given to section 4!), which lias an area of 8 acres 2 roods 4 perches, and it reached £341, at which figure it was purchased by Mr. S. Gilininn.

Tiie auctioneer then offered a section of the Bushmere estate, situated at Matawhero. This section contained 49 acres, and was sold at £52 ]xr acre, after having started at £3O, to Mr. James Campbell. A section situated near the Pipiwhaka diain, and containing 38 acres 1 root! 18 perches, was next offered. It was responsible for.only one bid. that being £7OO offered by Mr. John Bright, who acted on behalf of Mr. J. Ferguson. Tiie section was knocked down to that bidder.

The sale of the goodwill of lessees’ interest in a section comprising 41 acres 3 roods 25 pefchds, with right of renewal, commenced at £2OO, and was eventually sold to Mr. Patterson at £245.

The sections adjoining the Makarakc Domain, arid also those at Puha o’n 1 Makauri were in no demand, no offers being forthcoming.
