CORRESPONDENCE.

•A MENACE TO JH iUC HEALTH.” [TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—The people of Gisborne are indeed, fortunate in that they possess such a splendid beach. No more happy sight to my mind could lie wished than that which might have been witnessed there this afternoon. How the many "dippers” of both sexes and the more numerous “sunbathers” and strollers enjoyed themselves! It was, however, greatly to my surpii.se when on the beach at the bottom of what I learned was Stanley Road, I came across the remains of an apparently not long deceased horse peeping well above the surface. In view of tiie number of people, and especially children, who frequent the spot, this is a matter which slio'uld at once engage the attention of the authorities, as the carcase is undoubtedly a menace to public health. ■Thanking you in anticipation for the space which this letter will occupy,— I. am, etc., VISITOR. January 22, 1911,
