MEETING AT NAPIER

The Hawke’s Bay Land Board this morning granted permission to S. Hughes, E. J. Hughes, W. H. Bennett-, and T. King,'tenants of a grazing run of 11,000 acres in Mchaka district, oil the line of the East Coast railway, to -effect extensive improvements, such as the felling and burning of bush and scrub, and putting the property down in grass. The run has only been in ’■their possession for a few months, and their desire to improve it fully is regarded as one to he commended. Three settlers in the Tangoio settlement requested permission to transfer their holdings, financial troubles being given as the reason for the request. In each amb every case the leases have not been signed, and the Board decided to forfeit the sections and to protect improvements.
Several amplications for grazing.rights 'have been received, but until the forfeitures are gazetted, the Board lias rio 'power to give them consideration. The Board approved of the transfer of section 6, block 11, Tualiu. from T. E. L. Mooro to R. C. Draper. R. Henson and E. Green were given permission to sublease section 5, block 6. Mot-11, to W. A. Limbrick. Proposals In- the Vfairca County Council for the expenditure of £3lB 13s Kkl, accrued thirds ancl fourths, were approved. Mrs E. H. Cotterill was granted exemption from personal residence on section 4, block 15, Hikurangi. The trustees of the late L. E. Cottori 11 were granted exemption from personal residence on section 1, block 14, Hikurangi. Richard Wheelan was granted permission to occupy section 50, block 14, Hanguroa, four acres in extent, in consideration of keeping it clear of noxious weeds.
