A fatal accident occurred near Paekakariki to-day. As the north-bound Napier express was running down, an incline just to the south of Paekakariki railway station a big stone, which had evidently been dislodged* from the top of the bill, eamg crashing down a steep face, and -truck one ear with tremendous force, killing Alice Power, a taiToress, of Greymoutih. The other occupants of the car were uninjured. The damaged car was taken off at Paeka. kariki, and 1 tlie train resumed its journey.
