CHAMPION REDUCES THE MILE RECORD. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION-3 AUCKLAND, Fob. 24. Mr. E. Champion broke his own one mile swimming record at the Auckland Centre’s sports to-night by reducing the fi Gn res from 25min 16 4-ssee to 24 min 48 1-osec. He was in- wonderful form, and won the 10S yards race in 67 seconds, which, on calculation, is equal to about 62secs for the 100 yards, a second better than the New Zealand record. 500 YARDS PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Read, New South Wales, was second.
