CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. [FES PRESS ASSOCIATION. J WELLINGTON, March 7. The following team of athletes are making a trip to Christchurch to represent Wellington at the coming championship meeting:—A. T. Duncan, 100yds a.nd 220yds; B'. Cashman and P. Fitzgerald one and three-mile walks; J. Milton, 440yds flat; P. McNamara, high, jump; N. G. Winklemann, high jump and pole vault; A. V. Stohr (New Plymouth) 100yds, 220yds and 440yds flat. The team will leave for Christchurch on Thursday, the 14th inst., and return bv ; the late boat on the following Sunday. FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE SPORTS. WELLINGTON, ‘March A 'At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, Messrs Marryatt, Pollock and Chaff ey. who were appointed a sub-corn-ittee to represent the. Council in connection with t heFestival of _ Empire sports, reported that, in conjunction with delegates from the Boxing, Swimming, an-d Lawn Tennis Councils, the sub-committee waited upon the Prime Minister in regard to assistance for the Dominion’s representatives at the function. Sir Joseph -later informed the deputation that the Government would give £1 for £1 subsidy up to £250. Mr B. A. Guise had been appointed secretary in connection with the campaign for funds. The committe appointed to raise the necessary money was working assiduously, and there was a good prospect of raising £2OO. W. G. Harding and Guy Hashings had stated, in reply to a communication, from the committee, that they would be available if selected. Haskins had been requested

to visit Wellington to ho tried at 880 yds and a mile. Harding had stated that he was not trained for distances over 440.vds. R. Opie was unable to go. W. A Woodger left for Auckland, en route to England, on (Saturday, February 25th and it was proposed to send the other representatives on- March 15th.
