MYSTERIOUS FIRE.

- 1 SOLICITOR’S RESIDENCE DESTROYED. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, March 8. The two-storey residence of Edmund Mahoney, solicitor, at Remuera, was destroyed by fire at midnight in the absence of the family and servants. The whole of the furniture was destroyed. The building was owned by Mr Hall, of Wellington. The police had been informed that the dwelling would be unoccupied for some time. A constable was proceeding to the house to see if everything was safe, when lie saw the building ablaze. The origin of the fire is a. mystery. The insurance on Mahoney’s house was £SOO in the Liverpool, London and Globe.
