CUSTOMS DUTY AT GULF PORTS. [United press association -copyright.) LONDON, March 10. Sir Edward Grey, in reply to Mr Balfour said that Britain would not consent to the Porte increasing the Customs duty at Persian Gulf ports to 4 per cent, if the funds were used to promote the construction of railways of doubtful advantage to Britain’s trade, or to compete with services hitherto in the hands of British concessionaires. He added ; “Treaty rights in connection with the port of Koeit will be maintained.
